Special Education at Heights offers a supportive environment for students with special needs in a continuum of service through our delivery, settings, and intensity.
Teachers create partnerships with general education teachers, parents, and students to support each student's individual needs. Each student receives a highly individualized education plan delivered through multiple modalities. Special Education Teachers strive to meet students where they are and support them in their educational plan. Heights Campus offers both Learning Support and Self-Contained Special Education settings.

Students are supported in both general education and special education settings in collaboration with general education teachers
Independent work is a component for all Heights students, including students receiving Special Education support.
Independent work is completed during time when students are not receiving direct instruction. Students can access special education staff all week.
Virtual Learning Academy students receive specially designed instruction through online Special Education coursework and via Zoom and/or in-person sessions
Open Doors students receive specially designed instruction through via in-person labs as well as online Special Education coursework
Home Connection students receive specially designed instruction through Zoom and/or in-person sessions and independent work
Home School Support students receive all Special Education services at their neighborhood school
Serves students who have already been placed in any of the school districts self-contained special education classrooms
Each student receives services as directed by the current IEP. Please note that the minutes indicated on the IEP are a combination of synchronous (zoom) and asynchronous (on your own) work sessions. Students will not be on zoom sessions for the entirety of the minutes provided.
Services are served through a combination of small group zoom sessions, individual zoom sessions and independent work via online platforms and/or paper packets to be completed at home through support of the family
Students who do not have specially designed instruction in a core area (reading, writing, math) will receive instruction in that area remotely through their general education teacher
Special education teachers will hold office hours for drop in instruction/support
