My name is Juanita “Monessa” Yasu. I grew up and spent my early years on the island of Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. In 2004, I graduated from Xavier High School and because of my passion for learning, I moved to the US to pursue my post-secondary education. In 2008, I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from Mount Mary University. In 2018, I received my Masters Degree in Education Guidance and Counseling from City University of Seattle. Prior to becoming a school counselor at Mac, I had worked with the Vancouver Public School district for 7 years as a Bilingual Family Liaison. I became a school counselor because I want to support students with the skills they need to know in order to make informed decisions about their lives and for the betterment of their community. During my free time, I like to spend quality time with my family. I am grateful to be a part of the Mac community and when you enter the building, I will welcome you with a “warm smile”.
