AP Computer Science A

Resources for Class

AP CS A Planbook Link where you can find lessons for this class.

Grade Update Form - use this to ask to have your grade updated if you did make up work or re-did a program you want re-graded.  You can also email me if you have any questions about your grade. khansen@vansd.org

CodeHS.com - This is the main site we will use for class.

I will give you the link in class to sign up.

Canvas - This is the Learning Management System used by our district.  The website is "https://vansd.instructure.com/login/canvas".  You cannot just Google "Canvas" and log in.  This is where you will turn in some of your assignments.  However, my Planbook site is the main source of what you should be doing every day.

AP Classroom is a resource we will use to practice problems for the AP Exam and check your progress in the class.  It is also a great resource of AP Daily Videos that explain new concepts.

Big Future - Check out this site from the CollegeBoard!

You can win a $500 or $40,000 scholarship!

Practice-It from the University of Washington.  This site has lots of great practice problems that go along with a textbook that is used at the University of Washington called Building Java Programs.  The problems are self-correcting.

replit.com - this is an online IDE (Integrated Development Environment) where you can write programs.  We may or may not use it in class.  It is listed here as a resource for  you. You can write code in many different languages on replit.com.

CS Awesome Runestone Academy - We probably won't use this, but it's a resource.

Resources to help you prepare for the AP CSA Exam

AP Java Quick Reference - Have this handy when you take the Exam.  A printed version would be best if you have that option.

Writing a Class - I didn't write this but think it's a good overview of what goes into writing a Class.

Writing a Subclass - Same thing here only notice the "extends" keyword.

General Exam Day Information  - Check out the link for Exam Day information from the district.

You can earn 4 UW credits for taking this class but you have to register ahead of time.
