The Vancouver Community Jazz Combo (VCJC) is a small group of musicians providing a more intimate style of jazz performance. Consisting of a rhythm section and 3-4 horns, the ensemble also features a vocalist in many of its musical selections.
The jazz combo rehearses regularly throughout the year at a private residence.
Interested musicians and visitors are welcome to observe.
The VCJC is under the direction of Mr. Neil Huss. He has nearly 25 years of music performance experience with all types of ensembles, including drum and bugle corps. Neil directs the ensembles of both the Jazz and Marching programs.
Neil studied at Roanoke College under former U.S. Army Pershing’s Own trombonist, Dr. Joseph Blaha, and spent several years teaching in the K-12 and higher education settings prior to the pandemic. In 2022, he relocated to the PNW and regularly performs on trombone and euphonium.
Membership in the Jazz Combo is by invite-only. We encourage musicians to first join our Jazz Band so that we can assess your skills and abilities. If a spot becomes available, you may be contacted to confirm your interest and availability.
