The Vancouver Community Concert Band (VCCB) is a non-auditioned musical ensemble that serves as the flagship program of our organization. Musicians of all levels are welcome to join and we strive to encourage young musicians by supporting local school band programs.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays evenings from 6:30-7:45pm at St. John Lutheran Church off of Highway 99.
Visitors and interested musicians are welcome to attend or observe.
The Concert Band is under the direction of Erin Hanson. Erin is a music educator and bassoonist. She grew up in Vancouver, graduating from Skyview High School “a long, long time ago.”
Erin has a degree in K-12 Music Education from BYU and is currently working on a Masters of Music Education from Central Washington University. She currently teaches elementary music and middle school choir within the Vancouver Public Schools district. Erin has conducted the Concert Band for 9 years and counting!
Christmas Time: A Book of Carols for Playing Singing. Buchtel. Kjos Music Co. The Flute Descant book offers additional challenge for the bored or adventurous player.
Patriotic Favorites. Sweeney, arr. Leonard
Uncle Sam A-Strut: Sixteen Marches. King. Barnhouse Co.
Many members have not touched their instruments in years - even decades - and some have joined the Concert Band learning a new instrument after retirement. Participants need to provide your own instrument, a music stand, and a desire to play (and laugh), and may need to purchase some of the books listed above that we use regularly, particularly for holiday events. There is $10 participation fee per month.
