1st Grade

1st grade will have their program in April.

NOTE: Due to COVID-19, programs in 20/21 will look different. Instead of grade level programs, each class will do a mini performance demonstrating concepts they are learning in music. This will take place in class and will be recorded and emailed to parents to enjoy.

In music students move, speak, sing, dance, play musical games, read notation, and play instruments. Each month new concepts are introduced while reviewing previously learned material.

November- Introduction to quarter rests, practice identifying and using quarter and eighth notes, maintaining a part while others are performing something different

October- Introduction to eighth notes, rhythmic dictation, keeping the steady beat on instruments

September- Steady beat, tempo, introduction to quarter notes

August- Rules and expectations

Sing with your child. Children love to hear their parents sing and songs can be used to help establish routines around the house.
