Sports: Yearly Fee of $30 Required
Sports/extracurricular activities include:
6th grade: Cross country, tennis, track, dance and wrestling.
7th/8th grade: Basketball, volleyball, cross country, dance, football, tennis, track, wrestling and academic team.
Academic Requirements:
Maintain a 2.0 GPA with no failing grades.
If a student athlete falls below a 2.0 GPA or is failing a class, the student will have a meeting with the athletic director and be put on academic probation.
While on academic probation, the student athlete can practice, participate in games/competitions & travel with the team.
If a student athlete falls below a 2.0 GPA or is failing a class for a second week in a row, the student will be academically ineligible.
Ineligible student athletes are able to practice but can NOT participate in games/competitions or travel with the team.
If a student athlete is ineligible for 3 straight weeks they may be released from the team to focus on their academics or be required to attend the school’s Academic Support Program.
Grade checks will take place on a weekly basis for eligibility.
All grade point averages will be determined by the middle school grading policy. If a parent wants to contest their child’s academic probation, they must call and set up a meeting with the athletic director.
Attendance Requirements (IVL bylaws state that a student athlete must complete 10 practices to be eligible to compete)
In order to participate in an extracurricular athletic competition(s), student athletes must meet the following criteria
The student athlete must be present for all periods on the day of the event
or
The student athlete must be present for four periods and have a physician's note for that day.
In order to participate in a practice:
The student athlete must be present for four or more periods for that day.
Behavior Requirements
Behavior in class during the day may affect the student athlete’s ability to participate in practice/games/competitions or travel with the team for that day.
If a student athlete receives an In-School Suspension:
The student athlete will NOT participate in games/competitions or travel with the team on the same day(s) of the suspension.
This does include ISS for tardies.
If a student athlete receives Out-of-School Suspension:
They will NOT practice, participate in games/competitions, or travel with the team on the same day(s) of the suspension.
2nd offense - may result in being suspended for the remainder of the season/year.
