Agenda Use
The digital agenda will be posted in Google Classroom in your AVID Advisory class. Students are required to use the student agenda provided by VMS. On the first day of class in the week students will enter the week’s activities for each class and practice prioritizing and planning backward based upon due dates, activities, tests, assignments and homework.
Assessments:
All students enrolled at VMS will participate in district and state required assessments administered in the fall, winter, and spring. ISAT testing is scheduled for April with all grades participating in Reading, Language and Math; and 8th Science ISATs. Students will also take Mid-Term/Semester and Unit assessments.
Class Schedules
VMS reflects the philosophy of open and equal access to rigorous courses for our students throughout the school. Students select classes for the upcoming school year during spring pre-registration. Once schedules are set, changes will not be made except under extraordinary circumstances. If a change is desired, a written request by the parent must be made.
Counseling Department
Vallivue Middle School has two school counselors on campus. Students can request a meeting with a counselor through the main office or digital Counselor Request form posted online.
Digital Hall Passes:
If a student leaves the classroom during class time, they will submit a digital request. The pass needs to be approved by their current teacher prior to leaving the classroom. No Hall Passes can be used during the FIRST 10 minutes and the LAST 10 minutes of class, except for emergencies.
Homework
Homework is an important part of your classes at VMS. You are expected to spend time outside of class to finish the day-to-day work you may not have finished in class, reflect on and practice new concepts, and also to complete longer projects when assigned. The ability to use your time wisely and complete work when it is due is a skill you will use all your life.
Infinite Campus
Infinite Campus is our student information system. Parents and students are able to view grades, attendance, schedules and lunch accounts. To access Infinite Campus, you must have a username and password. To access, go to www.vallivue.org under the Parent/Student Section. Click Infinite Campus and click on Request Campus Account. Once you submit the required information, an email with your activation code will be sent to you within 48 hours. Note: Parent email must match the parent’s email on file with the Registrar.
Library
The library is open from 8:20 to 3:40. During school hours you must have a pass from a teacher to go to the library. The library is to be used for research, study and reading. All materials must be checked out before you leave the library.
Student-led Conferences
Student-Led Conferences will be held during the middle of the first semester. We ask that students attend with parents for the purpose of communicating both positive and constructive goals for the family and student’s benefit. Notices of scheduled dates and times will be sent home. Parents and students are strongly urged to attend. If parents wish to schedule a meeting during the school year, they may do so by contacting the office or school counselor.
Progress Reports And Report Cards
Students receive a report card at the end of each semester, as well as a progress report at the midpoint of each semester. Parents are encouraged to access Infinite Campus via the district website to help monitor student progress.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
Academic dishonesty occurs when students obtain (Plagiarism) or assist others (Cheating/Exchanging work) with the intent to obtain credit for work which is not their
own. Students are expected to display integrity and commitment to their school work, and academic dishonesty is not tolerated. Both acts are considered
academic dishonesty. Incidents of academic dishonesty will be documented, reported to parents/guardians, and can result in removal from a course.
Incidents accumulate over the course of each academic school year, across all courses in which the student is enrolled. This policy applies to all students involved in the
incident, including those who provided the original work. Incidents of academic dishonesty will result in:
1. First Offense: A score of zero with the option to redo the assignment for reduced credit (at the discretion of the teacher). Documentation in Infinite
Campus. Parents/guardians and the student must sign a notice of policy violation and complete any additional requirements at the administrator’s
discretion.
2. Second Offense: A score of zero and referral to the administration with a mandatory parent meeting and the signing of a second notice of policy violation.
Second documentation recorded in Infinite Campus. Potential failure of the course and/or removal from the course (at the discretion of the teacher and
administration; when considering the nature of the course)
3. Third Offense: Possible failure and removal from the course. Documentation in Infinite Campus.
