Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Willow Road! As ENL teachers we are committed to welcoming your family and working with your children to help them be succesful bilingual and/or multilingual scholars. In addition to helping students acquire English as a new language, we also work to support children as they encounter a variety of social challenges they may face at school. Frederick Douglass once said, "without struggle, there is no progress.". This quote can be used to address many things in life. Learning a new language can be hard but also very fun! Our ENL students will be among the few people in our society who can speak and understand two or more languages. That is amazing! My aim is for every one of our English Language Learners (ELLs) to thrive here along with their peers. Together we can do it!
On this website, you will find information about our district's ENL program, state exams, and English language resources that can be used at home. Please use it to your advantage!
Willow Road School is a family! We believe in working together and maintaining a good communication with families. If you ever have any questions about your child's academic progress or if you would like to learn English and need information on how to do so, please do not hesitate to call room 516-568-6647. I look forward to working with your family this year!
Sincerely,
Christine Robinson & Deniz Gumusdere
