Google Translate makes it easy to translate speech, conversations, images/documents and text.

Google Translate App Features:

Translating Speech

  1. Tap on the transcribe icon on the home screen.

  2. Choose the language you are going to speak by clicking on the languages on the top. The first one is the language you will speak, and the second language is the language it will translate to.

  3. Tap the microphone button and start speaking. The app will automatically translate for you.


Translating Conversations

  1. Tap on the conversation icon on the home screen.

  2. Select languages on the bottom of the screen.

  3. You can choose the language you want it to detect on the bottom of the screen by clicking on the microphone under that specific language. For example, if you choose English, you would click on the microphone under English. It will pick up the English language and translate it. You will hear the translation as well.

  4. You can choose the microphone under “both,” and it will pick up both languages and translate both of them.


Translating Images/Documents

  1. Select the camera icon from the home screen.

  2. You can choose to translate instantly, scan or import a picture.


  1. Translating instantly will scan as you move the phone and aim it at the desired image or document.

  2. Scanning will allow you to take a picture. It will scan the picture, and it will look for written language to translate.

  3. Importing a picture will allow you to select a picture, scan the picture, and look for written language to translate.


Translating Text

  1. Select the language you are typing in on the top right and the language you would like to translate to on the top left.

  2. Start typing, and it will automatically translate for you.

  3. Choose the pen. Write the text in the “write here” box.

  4. Choose the microphone. Speak to translate.


History/Saved

  1. You will see a history of your translations on the bottom of the home screen. You can click on the star to add it to your saved translations, send it via text/email, make it appear bigger, and/or copy it.
