Ms. Yardley’s Homework & Grading Policies
Homework Policy:
Here are daily homework OPTIONS, which your child can work on each day, along with any other homework and/or notes sent home from their grade level teacher (please check backpacks DAILY). These are for your child to improve their skills and practice, on what they are learning on the Oregon State Standards.
If you do not have computer access at home, the Vale Emma Humphreys Library has computers available for personal use, too, along with additional resources, 541-473-3902.
Elementary School Daily Homework OPTIONS (Choose what is best for your child’s schedule that day):
20 minutes daily – Reading an Accelerated Reading (AR) Book for AR Goals
10 minutes daily - iReady Reading: Practice Concept Skills at https://login.i-ready.com/
10 minutes daily – Sight and vocabulary word study practice
Homework is optional, not mandatory, and does not go on report card. I realize outside of school, families have busy schedules, including Ms. Yardley. Homework should be additional practice of concepts we have learned in school. Just do your best to practice at home when you can, I know spending time as a family is important, too.
Grading Policy:
Letter grade scale:
A=100-90% B=89-80% C=79-70%
D=69-60% F=59-50% INC=Incomplete
Missing assignments, make-up work, due to absence(s), etc., is an option, and the student has the number of days per school district policy, after their absence(s), to turn in assignments/work until the week before the reporting quarter. No late work, missing assignments, make-up work, etc., will be accepted the week before the end of the reporting quarter. If student will be absent for an extended period of time, please make arrangements ASAP with Ms. Yardley.
Curriculum: K-5th will be using Connect Curriculum. 6th will be using iLit/Savvas Curriculum. K-6 Flashlight 360 online platform will also be utilized.
My hope is that we can work together as a team, to make it one of growth, discovery, and significance for your child.
