Welcome!
My name is Ms. Yardley. I am so delighted to have you in my class this year. I hope you are ready to learn a lot of new and exciting things! Here are a few things to get to know me. ☺
I was born and raised in California, out in the country in a very small rural town (we even used to have wooden sidewalks!) Growing up, I showed Angus Cattle, quarter horses, dairy cows, pigs, and sheep. I competed in rodeo barrel racing, and livestock judging. I was very active in 4-H and FFA. In high school, I participated as a cheerleader, songleader, and yearbook editor. I was also an FFA officer at my School Chapter, and at the Regional Chapter, as an FFA California Central Region Treasurer Officer. My senior year, I placed 8th in the State of California in FFA Livestock Judging, earning a scholarship.
I attended Modesto Junior College, Modesto, California, on scholarship for the Livestock Judging Team, and then transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on a geology scholarship. I then transferred back to California State University, Stanislaus, as a Rogers Scholar, to earn my teaching degree and license. I taught in California and then moved to Oregon to be closer to family. I received my Reading Endorsement from Eastern Oregon University, and my Masters in Education, Administration, from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Ms. Yardley also has a dinosaur fossil in the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. I found the fossil on a dinosaur dig I was working at in college for Dr. Jack Horner, the famous dinosaur scientist. My dinosaur is a hypsilophodon zephyrosaurus; it was a juvenile (child) and a plant eater.
I am blessed to live in Vale, with our family dogs, Billie, Mack, and cats, Hope and Bubba. I love road trips, traveling, fishing, and being outdoors.
I am so thrilled to be a teacher at Vale Elementary. This community is amazing! This will be my eleventh year at Vale, and my 28th year as an educator overall. I have learned quite a few things along my journey as an educator. I know together we will have a successful school year!
