Vacaville Unified School District provides multiple networks for district devices to access the internet. While it may seem overwhelming at first, each network is designed for a specific purpose. Not sure which one to connect to? This page will guide you through the basics and help you choose the right network for your needs.
VacavilleUSD is the secure Wi-Fi network for all district staff devices.
Use your VUSD district username and password.
Example:
If your district email is JohnD@vacavilleusd.org, then:
Username: vusd\JohnD
Password: Your regular district password (the same one used for computers, email, Aeries, etc.)
This is the format used when connecting laptops or Windows devices to the Wi-Fi.
If you change your district password, you must also update the password stored in your Wi-Fi settings.
Otherwise, your device will keep trying to connect using your old password, which can cause:
Multiple failed authentication attempts
Automatic account lockout
Loss of Wi-Fi connectivity
Inability to sign in to district systems

Purpose: Wi-Fi for all student Google Chromebooks.
Student Chromebooks should connect to CW2018 automatically as soon as they are powered on.
If a Chromebook does not connect on its own, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.
Purpose: Alternative Wi-Fi network for district-provided Windows laptops.
VUSD-Cow is used as a secondary connection option if VacavilleUSD is unavailable or experiencing issues.
If you need access to this network or it is not already configured for your device, please Request a Technology Specialist to get you connected.
Purpose: Basic Wi-Fi for visitors who are not VUSD employees or students.
Examples include parents, volunteers, presenters, relatives, and other guests.
The VUSD-Guest network provides internet access only.
It does NOT allow access to:
School printers
District email
Google accounts
Student or staff programs
Any internal district resources
If you are a VUSD employee or student, this network will not work for your district accounts or devices.
If a guest needs access and is unable to connect, please Request a Technology Specialist for assistance.
Mobile devices connect to district Wi-Fi differently depending on whether you're using Apple iOS, Android, or a Google Pixel device.
