VUSD printers are connected via Ethernet and configured through the District Network. Each school site uses a dedicated print server, allowing for fast and reliable installation on all staff computers.
Because these printers are networked, the Technology Department can configure and troubleshoot them remotely and efficiently.
Important: All printers are labeled and configured for the specific room they are assigned to.
Moving a printer to a different location may cause it to stop working.
If you need to relocate a printer, please submit a request for assistance from a Technology Specialist.
Reconfiguring and reprogramming a printer after it has been moved is possible, but it involves a multi-step process that requires time and coordination. Here's what the Technology Department must do:
Rename and relabel the printer in the system to reflect its new location
Reconfigure and assign a new IP address
Update the district’s inventory database with the new location and IP information
Reinstall the printer on the site’s print server
Re-deploy the printer to all staff computers that previously had it installed

If you’re interested in using a new or alternative technology device, please contact your school site administrator or department head for approval.
Once the request is approved, purchased, and delivered, the Technology Department will be happy to assist with setup and integration into the district environment.
The Vacaville Unified School District (VUSD) and the VUSD Technology Department are not responsible for personal equipment and cannot provide technical support or service for non-district-issued devices.
Personal printers are not permitted to connect to the district network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Only district-approved and district-issued equipment is authorized for use on the VUSD network.
Staff may use personal printers only if connected directly to a district computer via USB. In these cases, the setup, operation, and maintenance of the device are the full responsibility of the staff member.
A great resource for all your district needs, what you can get, and how you can get them would be through our Technology Coordinator. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding VUSD District purchases and more, please contact Jim Wasielewski.
