Alyson Nelson

About Aly: 

I was born and raised in Beaver Dam, WI! I attended Prairie View Elementary School, Beaver Dam Middle School, and Beaver Dam High School. Throughout my childhood, I participated in a variety of sports, including softball, track, soccer, gymnastics, and volleyball. In high school, I chose to focus primarily on volleyball, although I continued to play indoor and outdoor soccer in an adult league. Volleyball became my passion, and I played year-round, including for school, club teams, and beach volleyball. 

Staying physically active has always been a central part of my life, and I love exploring new activities and opportunities. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, and other outdoor pursuits. In college, I continued my volleyball journey by joining the UW-Whitewater Women's Club Volleyball Team, where I served as the Club President for a year. Although I have since stepped down from the presidency, I now work as a Club Sports Student Coordinator, overseeing and managing the daily operations and requirements for all Club Sports. I take pride in managing 38 active Club Sports, with room to accommodate up to 40. 

My enthusiasm for physical activity and sports has always extended beyond personal participation. I encourage my family and friends to engage in new and unconventional forms of exercise, which sparked my passion for teaching. This led me to pursue a Physical Education major at UW-Whitewater, where I will graduate with certifications in Physical Education, Health Education, Adapted Physical Education, and Coaching.
