Dr. Eleni Tzouramani

(Senior Lecturer in Management | HRM Unit Lead)


FIOC | Fellow HEA

I am a senior lecturer in Management,  and also the Unit Lead for the HRM Group. My research interests lie in the broader fields of sociology of work, identity and spirituality, mainly looking at the identity processes of people who consider themselves ‘spiritual' and in relation to their conception of work. I am also interested in the ‘relational being' and more specifically in how people draw on spiritual and other cultural resources to integrate aspects of ‘unity' into who they are.

I teach Organisational Behaviour (2nd Year) and HRM in Context (PG) and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.

Dr. Silvio Hofmann

(Lecturer in HRM | BA People Management Programme Leader)


Academic Associate CIPD | Fellow HEA

I am a lecturer in HRM, the Programme Leader for the BA(Hons) Business & HRM and the Course Leader for our new CPD Course in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. I have a particular interest in and passion for equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) research and education.

I supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and research students, and deliver a number of undergraduate modules, including HRM in Business Context (1st Year), HRM Research Design (3rd Year), HR Systems & Analytics (3rd Year) and HR Policy & Practice (4th Year).

Dr. Patrick Hutchinson

(Lecturer in HRM | BA Business & HRM Programme Leader)


Academic Associate CIPD | Senior Fellow HEA

I have joined UWS from Sunderland University where he was the faculty academic lead for Social Sciences. My doctoral study was a critical realist examination of the trade union's impact on pay and reward within the National Health Service. As well as his work researching industrial relations and reward management, my research interests include social class and equality and diversity. My most recent research has included a number of studies examining how vulnerability is perceived and supported within the criminal justice system.

I teach Managing Performance & Reward (3rd Year) and Performance & Reward Management (PG), and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.

Dr. Catherine Clark

(Lecturer in HRM | MSc Programme Leader)


Associate CIPD | Associate Fellow HEA

I am a lecturer in HRM and the MSc HRM Programme Leader. My research interests include leadership and employee experience of employment, particularly in SMEs. I also have several years of industry experience.

I teach The HR Function (2nd Year), Transformational HRM (4th Year) and HR Professional Skills (PG).

Dr. Stephen Gibb

(Professor in HRM)

I have over 50 articles, papers and books on management and organisation, HRM, coaching and mentoring, incorporating project experience and research in a variety of organisations including the NHS in Scotland and Wales, Scottish Local Authorities, and SMEs.

I also teach on the Organisational Culture & Development (4th Year) module and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.

Dr. Mohammed Ishaq

(Reader in HRM)


FCMI | Associate Fellow HEA

I am a reader in HRM, specialising in research into equality and diversity issues especially in relation to diversity management in the public sector and with a specific focus on gender, race and religion.

I teach the Managing Equality & Diversity and the HRM Honours dissertation in 4th year and supervise undergraduate and doctoral students.

Dr. Shuai Zhang

(Lecturer in HRM)

I am a lecturer in HRM. My research interests are Talent Management and International HRM.

I teach a variety of HR undergraduate and postgraduate modules, namely Talent Management (2nd Year) and Resourcing and Managing Talent (PG).

Dr. Andrew Burnett

(Lecturer in Management & Organisation)

I am a lecturer in Management & Organisation. My research focuses on critical approaches to management and organisation with a particular interest in the application of ethical judgement in managerial contexts, and the enhancement of social justice through critical management praxis and pedagogy.

I teach various modules in HRM and management, including Critical Employment Relations (3rd Year), Critical Issues in International HRM (4th Year) and Managing Employee Relations (PG).

Dr. Sahar Siami

(Lecturer in HRM)

I am a lecturer in HRM and obtained my PhD from the University of Tasmania, Australia. Before joining UWS, I was a lecturer in both undergraduate and postgraduate management programmes in Iran for 13 years. Recently, I published papers in a variety of academic journals. My research interests include HRM and OB, specifically organisational environment and climate and its effect on employees’ work-related behaviour and their customers/clients in service or retail.

I am primarily based at our Lanarkshire campus, and teach Introducing People Management (1st year), Organisational Behaviour (2nd year), among others.

Dr. Aleksandra Webb

(Lecturer in HRM)


Fellow HEA | Member of ENRLMM | Member of ETF

I research issues related to human work, employment, skills and careers. I am particularly interested in the workforce development needs in times of rapid societal, economic and technological transformations. I published on themes such as skills supplies and demands in the Scottish labour market, barriers to women’s work and careers, challenges of mothers in non-traditional work arrangements, informal work and employment, and digitalisation in various sectors. I am a Co-Director of the university’s Social Impact Leadership & Management Research Group (SIL&M).

I teach Introducing People Management (1st Year) and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.
