Virtual Learning Environment: myUWS

myUWS is used on only fourth year module in 2022/23.
  • This is where Module Information is posted, including Module Handbook / Class Information / Lecture Material / Tutorial Material / etc.;

  • EVERYDAY information, e.g. if a class changes, that is where you will be informed — Lecturers can send e-mails from Moodle;

  • Please make sure you double-check your StudentMail account, sometimes these Moodle announcements are moved into the ‘Clutter’ folder!

  • Once you choose a module, it takes 24 hours to have access to Moodle.

Virtual Learning Environment: Aula

Aula is used for all modules, except for fourth year modules.
  • This is where Module Information is posted, including Module Handbook / Class Information / Lecture Material / Tutorial Material / etc.;

  • This is where Module Information and material is posted — unlike Moodle, Aula revolves around community (chat & video chat function, etc.);

  • EVERYDAY information, e.g. if a class changes, that is where you will be informed — Lecturers can send e-mails from Moodle;

  • Once you choose a module, it takes 24 hours to have access to Aula.

Turnitin

Turnitin is embeeded in our myUWS/Aula, and is not a standalone system.
  • What is Turnitin: billed as “plagiarism detection software”…
but you are encouraged to use it as“development tool”
for plagiarism purposes;

  • In order to avoid any repercussions or penalty for insufficient referencing and/or plagiarism, students should use Turnitin as a developmental tool:

  • You should submit as many drafts as you wish prior to the deadline, allowing you to ensure compliance with our rules on referencing;

  • Also provides you with feedback on your written assessment and your provisional grades…
