Title: Understanding The Primordial Universe through Gravitational Waves
Abstract:
How do we know about the earliest stages of cosmic history? Fundamental theories motivating the primordial epoch of accelerating expansion, named inflation, often lead to a rich dynamics owing to field interactions. The primordial dynamics at large scales is efficiently constrained by observations of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) with Planck/ACT; however, small-scale dynamics remains elusive. Present and upcoming Gravitational wave (GW) surveys offer a unique window towards inflation and the immediate post-inflationary evolution, for scales inaccessible to CMB surveys. In this talk, I will discuss a model of inflation with turns in the field space with characteristic GW signatures, and the effect of non-standard post-inflationary evolution on the GW spectrum in light of Pulsar Timing Array observations.
