The first workshop I attended was a fourteen week workshop on Professionalisation of teaching and learning with a focus on generating a teaching portfolio. The workshop focussed on learning theories like Piaget and Vygotsky, how to develop a teaching philosophy, and various pedagogies. The main focuss of the workshop was on identifying the learning needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students in order to align my teaching strategy to their needs. The workshop also taught me about the learning process of students and how to keep students in mind when preparing for the lectures and the value of student feedback. A certificate was also awarded for completion of the workshop.
Other workshops I attended included workshops on Google sites and Emerging researcher workshop (13 September 2018 from 10:00-13:00) to update researchers profile online in order to become more visible on the internet as an UWC academic.
