Research Activities

I lead the Computational Pharmacology and Cheminformatics Group (CPCG) at the School of Pharmacy, University of the Western Cape, Cape Town. Our research focuses on computational drug discovery and design, analysis and interpretation of chemical and bioactivity data using Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning and Biostatistics techniques in conjunction with relevant in-vitro bioassays in order to discover and design novel drug candidates, especially from natural products, for infectious and non-infectious diseases. As a formulator at heart, we are also involved in the development of novel drug delivery systems for herbal medicine (particularly exploring the use of nanotechnology as a tool for preparation of novel drug delivery systems for herbal medicine). Details of our research output and collaborations are outlined in the subsection under this section of this submission.
