UW Students are often blindsided by the intensity of coursework and level of difficulty of the classes offered at the university. This problem particularly affects first year students, coming from different educational backgrounds and adjusting to a new kind of independence, many struggle to plan their courses effectively. While UW does offer resources showing historical grade distributions, these lack details and transparency regarding the actual course workload and difficulty. This problem is important as improper planning or last-minute class drops can push students off track, extending their time to graduation, and increasing the financial burden of having to do additional quarters. Therefore, there is a need for a more transparent system that supports the students at the University of Washington in academic planning.Â
