Cost

Program Fee

As a participant of a university exchange, you pay an exchange program fee equivalent to UW tuition (1.5 quarters of UW tuition for semester exchanges). Exchange fees are determined by UW residency status: in-state students pay an exchange fee equivalent to in-state tuition, and out-of-state students pay an exchange fee equivalent to out-of-state tuition. The exchange program fee and UW Study Abroad Office administrative fee are charged to your UW account and due by the UW tuition deadline for your term(s) of study abroad.

Students will also pay the UW Study Abroad Fee which will be charged to their UW account in Summer Quarter 2022.

Additional Expenses

The program fee does not cover additional expenses such as international airfare, food, personal spending, student abroad insurance, passport/visa fees, etc. These costs will vary for each student but we will provide an estimate of these costs below to help with planning.

Financial Aid

Most forms of student financial aid can be applied toward the costs of a study abroad program. It is also possible to request an increase to your financial aid offer for the quarter you are studying abroad. You can request an increase to cover the full estimated cost of participation in the program, including the program fee as well as additional expenses such as airfare, food, etc. Visit the UW Study Abroad Financial Aid page for more information on applying your financial aid toward the costs of study abroad.
