Dr. Jeremy Guinn is received a BS in Biology from Bridgewater College (VA), MS in Biological Sciences from Western Illinois University, and PhD in Zoology from North Dakota State University. He then completed a A.A. in Native American Studies from Sitting Bull College to learn more about the communities he serves as a tribal college faculty. His research interests are broadly animal ecology in changing environments and that usually means human impacts and human dimensions related to wildlife populations.
He is currently working in three areas of scholarly investigation: (1) Wildlife and Disease Ecology, (2) Community-Engaged Conservation Science, and (3) Understanding Research Experiences and Informal Science Experiences on Undergraduates Education. He has worked with many species including coyotes, elk, turtles, eagles, shrikes, brown thrashers, salamanders, mosquitoes, and many others. The central themes of most projects are to use science to address questions of importance to communities.
Undergraduate researchers drive many projects and students are fully involved in developing research questions, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting results at national conferences, and drafting manuscripts. His research projects typically combine heavy field data collection and sampling, GIS/Remote sensing analyses, and more recently intensive laboratory analysis.
