Intertribal Research & Resource Center (IRRC) is regional hub that engages in and builds capacity for research, training, outreach, and education partnerships to support the STEM goals, needs, and aspirations of Northern Plains Tribes with a focus on sustainability of food, energy, and water resources.
The IRRC is a nexus of activities supporting tribal natural resource management and planning, collaborative research, and sustainability efforts in food, energy, and water sectors.The IRRC has substantially grown UTTC’s record of serving Northern Plains tribal communities through equitable partnerships, increased research capacity, and expanded outreach programming.
The IRRC and associated UTTC departments house experts in renewable energy, health impacts of environmental toxins, development of biomaterials from agricultural products, sustainable agriculture, genetics, geology, wildlife ecology and STEM education.
The IRRC conducts community-based research and seeks to address issues relevant to tribal nations in the Northern Plains.
Our community outreach programs are family events focused on providing science information in ways that are fun, active, and designed for all ages.
Training programs focus on developing skills in specific areas identified by tribal agencies or community members.
The IRRC produces case studies and resource guides on topics relevant to conservation professionals in the region (archived in the Education page).
