Currently the world is experiencing unprecedented times, and it is now more than ever that unity must prevail and we must come together to fight the injustices happening around the world. The ECHO Editorial Team would like to express our solidarity with the Black Lives Matter as well as the Stop Asian Hate Movements and encourage pieces upon such topics for the next publication. Language is a medium through which we can communicate with one another, to convey our messages around the world and make ourselves heard. We urge you to utilize that voice, to empower others as we hope to do through this publication.

Hello, Hola, Guten Tag, Bonjour, Salve, 您好!

As John Stuart Mill once said "language is the light of the mind". It is a medium through which we forge friendships, cultural ties and economic relationships. From the bustling streets of New York and Paris to the serenity of the Amazon, languages shape not only our experiences in the world but the way we view it.

Languages are a gateway into a nation's culture, psyche and modes of thought. The German syntax is ideal for formulating the most precise philosophical profundities, while the clarity of French resonates in the romantic nature of the language.

Multilingualism opens the door of endless opportunities, to find cultural kinship among others and to explore the world with newfound perspectives.

The aim of ECHO is to celebrate that journey beyond geographical borders: the literary language, culture and the intellectual curiosity that comes with learning a language.

The pieces found on this website are written for students, by students. They range from literary pieces, to film critiques to even global affairs. I hope that these resources find to be helpful and I look forward to reading your submissions.
