As the most widely spoken native language in Europe, learning German truly presents benefits to those who brave through the endless verb conjugations, more grammar exceptions than rules and of course the beloved umlauts. Traditionally, Germany is the country of poets and thinkers - also known as Das Land der Dichter und Denker - with over one hundred Nobel Prizes gone to Germans for accomplishments in physics, medicine, chemistry, literature, among others. This excludes the prizes gone to Austria and Switzerland, the other two major German speaking countries. The clarity and organization of the language is what enables such complex thoughts, thus a lot of crucial philosophical knowledge has also been written in German. In addition, the German higher education system has a world renowned reputation, in particular for having very low or non-existent tuition fee. Specifically since 2014, Canadian undergraduate students don't have to pay any tuition fees in all public universities - an added benefit to the sheer methodical beauty of the language!
