Q1: How can I defer my study? Any term and condition apply?

A1: Students may apply for Leave of Absence from their programme of study by submitting the prescribed “Application for Leave of Absence” form to FGO. Please refer to the Policies of Leave of Absence of the application form.

Q2: What are the deadlines to apply leave of absence?

A2: Long Trimester: before the end of Week 10 and

Short Trimester: before the end of Week 5

Q3: What is the maximum duration of the leave of absence application?

A3: The total leave of absence shall not exceed 2 years for bachelor programmes.

Q4: How should I apply for rejoining my study after the leave of absence?

A4: Students need to fill up the rejoin letter that is send to the residential address and then submit to the Faculty General Office. Please refer to the Faculty General Office for assistance on the course registration.

Q5: Why is my leave application rejected/not approved?

A5: The Dean can only approve leave application with a valid reason such as: medical reason (only MC will be acceptable and/or a time sheet which is only valid during class time), death of close relatives (supporting documents must be attached as evidence) or other valid reasons with supporting documents.

Q6: If I were unable to attend lectures/tutorials during the trimester, what should I do?

A6: Students may apply for Student Leave Application by submitting the prescribed “Student Leave Application” form to the FGO within 3 days from the date you want to take leave.

Q7: I am sick but I have medicine to take at home. Therefore, I do not have a MC. Will my leave application be not approved?

A7: A sick leave can only be approved with the evidence of a valid MC.
