Q1: When can I register for the next trimester courses?
A1: During the pre-registration period which will be announced via online memo and also the Week 1 and Week 2 (close on 2nd week, Friday, 5pm) of every new trimester.
Q2: When is the last day for me to do the add/drop courses?
A2: The add/drop courses system will be closed on the Friday of Week 2 at 5 p.m.
Q3: How can I apply for the credit transfer after the commencement of new trimester? When is the deadline for this application?
A3: Application of credit transfer must be made during the first academic trimester upon enrolment at UTAR. Students may do so by submitting the prescribed “Credit Transfer Application” form to Faculty General Office (FGO) latest by the Friday of Week 2.
Q4: How can I apply for the programme transfer? When is the deadline for this application?
A4: Student may fill up the programme transfer application form and submit to FGO during Week 1 and Week 2 of every new trimester.
Q5: Can I get course exemptions?
A5: Exemptions can be given for those who have taken the equivalent course(s) from other learning institutions which are considered to be equivalent with the requirements of UTAR. However, terms and conditions do apply. Please consult your Head of Department (HoD) for further clarifications.
Q6: Can I take more than one elective course in the same group?
A6: Yes, you can. The GPA and CGPA only will be counted from one of them. You are required to write in an appeal letter to inform us that which course you would like to choose to be an audit course.
Q7: What is course withdrawal?
A7:
i) It is similar to drop of course except there will be no refund for any course withdrawal that approved by the Faculty
ii) Students have to pay the full amount stated in the Student Bill in order to apply for course withdrawal.
iii) Students may apply to withdraw from the course ONLY from :-
a. Week 3 until Week 12 for long trimester and
b. Week 3 until Week 6 for short trimester.
iv) Students is not allowed to withdraw all the courses that have been registered in the trimester. In other words, student MUST register for AT LEAST one (1) course in any trimester.
Q8: When will the pre-registration of courses for next trimester start?
A8: Week 13 for the long trimester and week 6 for the short trimester.
Q9: How many credit hours am I allowed to register for long and short trimesters?
A9: Normal status: Long trimester – 20 credit hours; Short trimester – 10 credit hours.
Under probation status: Long trimester – 12 credit hours; Short trimester – 6 credit hours
Q10: I missed my pre-registration period. What should I do to register for the course(s)?
A10: The system will be opened again during add/drop weeks (2 weeks, 2nd week till Friday, 5pm) when the new trimester begins. Students may register via online as long as the seat is still available for the course(s) that they would like to register.
