World Language Reading Challenges

We will have three reading challenges over the semester, each lasting two weeks. See if you can be one of the top readers for each challenge.

Challenge 1: August 24th - September 6th
Challenge 2: September 21st - October 4th
Challenge 3: TBD

First Reading Challenge

“A Swig of Stories”

How to participate:

Log in to Sora: SORA Library Student Login
1. If you have problems with your Sora login information, reach out to Mr. Lind (blind@utahonline.org)

Choose a challenge in Sora to join. You can join one, some, or all! The dates are different for each one, so you will need to wait for the specific date to start the challenge. Look at the challenges below, and join using the instructions under the information for each challenge.
1. Once the challenge starts you can check the leaderboard on the “me” tab in Sora to see how many minutes you have read, and who is ahead on the leaderboard.
2. Important Note: If you are already logged in to Sora through another school, you will need to Add the Utah Online Library to join the challenges. Do this by clicking on the hamburger icon with the three horizontal lines in the top right corner, and then “Add library”. Search for Utah Online and log in with your Sora username and password.

Fill out THIS FORM to be eligible for winning prizes. Fill out the form each time you enter a challenge. If you don’t fill out the form we won’t be able to get your prizes sent to you.

What: Read as many minutes from the Utah Online Sora Digital Library as you can. Audiobooks do not count toward the reading total in this challenge.

When: August 24th - September 6th

Who: Students enrolled in Utah Online World Language courses

Why: Mostly for fun! But the top FOUR readers will win a $5 gift card to Swig. The top SIX readers will win a Guatemalan Worry Doll or ASL Keychain. And EVERYONE who reads 15 minutes or more will get TWO Spanish bookmarks or TWO ASL vinyl stickers.
