1. Install the extension  

• Open your Chrome browser and go to the Chrome Web Store.

• Search for "Screencastify".

• Click "Add to Chrome" and then "Add Extension" to install it.

• Pin the Screencastify icon (a pink arrow) to your extensions bar for easy access. 

• When prompted, sign in with your Google Account and allow Screencastify access to your webcam, microphone, and other tools. 

2. Start a recording

• Click the Screencastify icon on your extensions bar.

• Choose what to record:

  • This Tab: Records the current browser tab.

  • Full Screen: Records your entire desktop.

  • Webcam Only: Records only your webcam.

• Optional settings:

  • Enable the microphone toggle to record your voice.

  • Enable the "Embed Webcam" toggle if you want to include your webcam video in the recording (for "This Tab" or "Full Screen" recordings).

  • Adjust the countdown length (3, 5, or 10 seconds) or disable it.

  • Enable "Show Drawing Tools" for annotation options during recording (available in "This Tab" and "Desktop" recordings).

• Click the "Record" button to begin. 

3. During and after the recording

• You can pause and resume the recording as needed by clicking the red icon at the top of your browser.

• Once finished, you can stop the recording and access it from your Screencastify dashboard or My Videos page. 

4. Editing and sharing

• You can edit your recordings using the Screencastify editor. This editor allows you to trim, crop, and merge videos, and can be accessed from the video management page, Google Drive, or your Screencastify dashboard.

• You can share your recordings directly to Google Drive, YouTube, or via a shareable link. Screencastify will save your recordings automatically to a "Screencastify" folder in your Google Drive.
