Region 4

Pavement condition data has been collected annually, except for 2 years when it wasn't (2013 & 2016). Reported data for those years has been estimated. Detailed 0.1 mile data is available for IRI, Rutting, Environmental Cracking, Fatigue Cracking, Slab Cracking, Joint Spalling, and Joint Faulting. A combined Overall Condition Index is used in dtims for determining our Funding Needs. The IRI data is used as our Performance Measure for the historical condition tracking, forecasting and reporting.

Overall Pavement Condition

The charts below reflect the historical and forecasted system pavement condition for Region 4. Collected data represents condition based on tenth mile IRI in the positive route direction. Forecasted years represent condition at the pavement section forecasted from dTIMS. Condition data was not collected in 2013 and 2016 and is interpolated in the charts. High Volume Condition

High Volume pavement relates to roads with 1,000 or more cars a day. In Region 4 this system contains 1,720 center line miles and 7,385 surface areas. Region 4 funding for the High Volume System is $52.8 million.

Low Volume Condition

Low Volume pavement relates to roads with less than 1,000 cars a day. In Region 4 this system contains 1,300 center line miles and 3,095 surface areas. Region 4 funding for the Low Volume System is $23.6 million.

Pavement Preservation Index

The Pavement Preservation Index is a draft performance measure. The Pavement Preservation Index will be the ratio of the work done (planned) to the work required – measured in units of surface area years. This Index will provide an indication of our future condition. Values less than 100% would forecast a decline in condition, while values greater than 100% would forecast an improvement in condition.
