Occupational Health on Rotation
While you can continue to get personal healthcare through the UFHC while on rotation, decisions about occupational health shift to the occupational health provider where you will be working. The University Occupational Health Service is still here to support you and your local occupational health team. Below is more information about getting ready for clinical rotations from an occupational health perspective:
AAMC form
The most commonly used communication tool for medical students regarding occupational health is the AAMC form. This form is not something you fill out, UOHS will fill this out for you. To initiate this process, please send an email to usumedicalreadiness@usuhs.edu with your DoDID and we will send you the completed AAMC form, immunization record as well as your titers.
TB testing (PPD/Quantiferon/Tspot)
If you have ever had a positive TB test, there is no reason to get another one. Contact us to discuss how to approach documentation.
Depending on your site, you may need one of the following;
2 step PPD (2 neg PPD's within 12 months)
Quantiferon gold (lab test, in the past 12 months)
To get the 2 step PPD, you can go to the immunization clinic at Walter Reed (information below) or you can sign up for one of our readiness events (information below). For the 2 step, you will need to wait 1 week in between each placement (Example, if you have one placed on Monday, read on Wednesday the next one needs to be placed no sooner than the following Monday) Please plan accordingly.
To get a quantiferon test you need an order to be placed, to get this order placed you need to send an email to usumedicalreadiness@usuhs.edu with a request for the lab order as well as your DoDID. These results take up to a week to come back, please plan accordingly.
Some rotation sites require more frequent TB testing.
Other forms
Some sites have additional requirements and paperwork that need to be completed, these forms/requests can be sent to usumedicalreadiness@usuhs.edu. Remember to include your DoDID.
