Architectural Graphics 1 is challenging but also fun. It is challenging because it encourages you to think further on illustrating the drawings and have realistic measurements. It is fun because you get to illustrate drawings scaled down of their actual size. When you finish the drawings, you get to have a sense of accomplishment, and you get to see the whole concept from different angles, which would occasionally happen in real life. You get to visualize your ideas in advance even before building them.
At the start of this semester, I know nothing about how drafting works; I feel that I am so behind on knowledge compared to my classmates who had these classes before. Now, looking back at my works, I saw a huge improvement from zero experience about it. Sometimes, I would feel pressured when everyone finishes their drawings so fast. I hope to improve quickly to catch up and not make myself think that I’m left behind. When we are required to have the list of materials to use, I’m not very familiar with most of them. When Sir De Vera taught us how to use it, everything binds together, realizing its use and what connects each other. Since I’m just starting in this field, I made many mistakes, especially regarding measurements in the drawings, but once I realized what the problem was, I learned lessons and convinced myself not to repeat it. Through this course, I learned how to use T-square, triangle rulers, metric scales to draw floor plans, isometric drawings, and elevations. This course would be one of the courses or subjects with the most things I learned in a semester. Though I’m still having a hard time drawing everything correctly on the first try, I will continue to improve on it. I’m hoping to learn more about and improve more on architectural graphics in the next semester.
