Hi there, beautiful people! I warmly welcome you to my learning journey in my course entitled Learning Assessment II! Enjoy!
Indeed, everything we have discussed in this course is a great help for me in my future teaching career. I am also fascinated by all the topics we discussed, for they all have a practical application in my career. However, these are the specific topics that caught my attention and interest. First, the topic that is all about creating an authentic assessment based on the GRASPS method. It excites me then because I always have a hard time making an authentic assessment, and I am nervous that I might not be an effective teacher in the future because I don’t have enough knowledge and skills to develop an assessment that would help my students to assess their learning performance. Fortunately, we discussed making this assessment using a particular method that I should follow to create a quality assessment. Aside from this, the discussion about formulating objectives using the SMARTER (Specific, Measurable, Realistic, Time-Bound, Exciting, Rewarding) method was also beneficial. It helps me assess how much I know about crafting my objectives in my lesson, and it helps me understand what areas I should improve to make my objectives effective and achievable. Lastly, I am interested too in the topic of creating a rubric. Aside from being challenging, this topic also helps me to improve my skills in thinking, making, and including certain domains I want my students to master and demonstrate with mastery.
Through this course and specific topics that caught my attention, I developed some skills that are vital in my chosen field of specialization. For instance, in crafting an authentic assessment using the GRASPS method, I developed and enhanced my creativity in making catchy and unique titles for my teaching-learning activities and assessment and creating the context of my assessment. I learned to adapt to the current situations and trends and integrate them into my assessment so that it wouldn’t be plain and boring for my students. Meanwhile, I improved my critical thinking skills in creating my learning objectives, for it needs to be done by careful planning. In creating my rubric, I also learned how to be specific and inclusive so that my students would be aware of how they will be assessed and what skills/knowledge they need to master and grasp.
On the other hand, in general, this course, together with all the topics it contained, helped me develop my communication skills. It is through collaborative assessments and activities that our professor gave us. With this, I was able to get out of my comfort zone, in which I am afraid of making first movements with other people. Still, because our professor urged us to work collaboratively, I overcame one of my weaknesses- communicating with other people.
Like my other classmates, I was also experiencing difficulty coping with online classes. It dried my energy and motivation because I was too overwhelmed by overloaded tasks and deadlines I needed to be aware of. I struggled to finish this course, but I intend not to give up on these struggles because, as they have said, “There is no failure except in no longer trying.” So, I always try my best not to dwell on these obstacles.

Entry 1:
Discussion Board on Learning Competencies
Goal (s):
To effectively and properly create learning competencies.
Before, I really don’t have much care about when my teachers back then presented to our class his/her objectives before she/he starts discussing. But, when we discussed crafting our own objectives and when I tried to do it by myself, I realized how hard to make objectives and how much effort they exerted just to come up with good objectives. So, in this activity, I learn to appreciate my teachers for how much they love their students so they planned well their learning competencies to ensure that their students would learn something from their lessons.

Entry 2:
Discussion Board on Rubric- Making
Goal (s):
To properly create a rubric.
To effectively select criteria for the top and the lowest level of performance.
To properly spells out descriptors/descriptions of each criterion in my rubric .
I don’t much get this lesson the first time it was introduced to us by our professor. I am still confused but, when our teacher asked us to do our own rubric, I immediately went back (twice) to her presentation to review this topic. Indeed, if you don’t get what you want for the first time, try it for the second time, and if it still not working for the second try, make it three or until you get it. Remember, learning does not happen overnight, it takes time and effort. And, life is all about learning and trying.
Goal (s):
To learn from my past mistakes.
True enough, we could learn best from our mistakes. We should be open and willing to learn even from the way we aren’t comfortable. Back then, if I got wrong or mistakes, I hate looking at them and I am not comfortable going back to them because it reminds me of how dumb am I but, through these assessments and its results, I’ve learned that it’s important to go back to where we got mistakes for it will give the best feedback on what areas we should improve on.

Goal (s):
To maintain high grades
To achieve test results higher than 80%
I am pressured to my scores in my summative test 2 because it’s really high for me. I doubted myself if I can maintain that high scores in my prelims exam. But, amidst my doubt, I also aimed to maintain that grades so, I set a standard for myself, which is, that I need to get a test result that is above 80%. Fortunately, I did and I am really happy. But, also know that when I set that standard, I also started to work hard and study really hard to achieve that goal/standard. With this, I realized that it’s indeed an overwhelming feeling to succeed when you knew how much effort you put in and how hard you try into achieving that success.
Goal (s):
To craft an effective and good assessment task sheet.
To enhance my collaboration skills.

Through this task, I realized that sometimes, you can not just get lessons from your teachers but also, you can learn from your peers. It is because you often feel the same, experience the same, and/or you are aiming for the same goal- high grades, and from that, you can learn how to listen to them and to express your ideas, suggestions, and opinions. You get to exchange your ideas to each other. You work really hard not just for yourself but also for your groupmates. Also, I learned to enhanced my communication skills for this task urged me to communicate with my peers so that this task would be achieved.
Goal (s):
To engage what I learned from the previous lessons.
It’s been a tough road for me to achieve this kind of achievement because I experienced numerous difficulties but, it's all worth it seeing how fruitful my perseverance and determination is. It’s true that nothing can beat perseverance.
Goal (s):
To demonstrate how much I learned from our last two topics entitled Portfolio and Grading and Reporting.
I am really happy that I did it well for our last summative test for this course. I can’t still feel it that I am nearing the end of this course. On one hand, this assessment test further taught me on how I could best craft this portfolio. The topic about “portfolio” is very interesting and helpful for me in doing this project (eportfolio) and surely, it would also be beneficial for me in my future career.
