Elementary Librarian

The Elementary Library contains collection of books periodicals, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets which support the school’s thrusts, philosophy, and goals.
General references
These includes general encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, gazetteers, yearbooks, almanacs, handbooks & manuals, indexes, bibliographies, and directories. These books are for “library use” only.
Subject references
These cover all books which supports the curricular program. These books may be borrowed for seven (7) days.
Reserve books
These books are required reading materials recommended by the faculty members to be made available for the pupils. While the book is “on reserve”, it may not be checked out from the library except for overnight use only. Books must be checked out at 4:00 p.m. and must be returned at 8:00 am in the morning, the following day.
Periodicals
Publications issued at regular intervals and to be continued in indefinite period.

Periodicals are for “library use” only. Current issues are displayed on the shelves.
Filipiniana
This section contains books written by a Filipino author, printed, and published in the Philippines, about the Philippines and books written for the Philippines and its residents. These books may be borrowed overnight.
Fiction
Light reading materials such as storybooks, novels, and inspirational readings. These materials may be borrowed for seven (7) days.
General rules
Silence must be always observed.
School I.D. must be presented upon entering.
Sleeping, eating, and doing classroom projects are not allowed in the library.
Bottled water or any liquid drinks should not be brought inside.
Bags, envelopes, folders, etc. must be left in the Depository/Baggage Area.
Personal belongings and valuables should not be left unattended. The library will not be responsible for their loss.
Maintain cleanliness in the library and keep things in their proper places.
Handle books and other library materials properly.
Leave the books on the table after using (except those books “On Reserve” that needs to be returned to the counter).
Keep things in their proper place. Push the chairs against the tables after using.
Pupils caught defacing, mutilating, or stealing any library materials or property are dealt accordingly.
Circulation Rules & Policies
(Borrowing and Returning of Library Materials)
A School I.D. is needed in borrowing books and other library materials.
A pupil can borrow a maximum of 3 books only at a time.
General references such as encyclopedia, dictionaries, almanacs etc. are for “library use only.
Pupils are not allowed to borrow books from the library through their classmates, friends or other persons, nor request any person to return for them their borrowed book.
Pupils are not allowed from borrowing library books for other members of the family, classmates, or friends.
Loan Period Guidelines
Books may be renewed for another 3 consecutive circulation periods but must be brought back to the library for renewal. However, books may be recalled if needed by another user.
Fines, Penalties and Fees
Php10.00 will be charged for unreturned reserve books and materials for photocopy. Fines computation includes Sundays and Holidays.
Damaged /lost books borrowed shall be paid for based on the current price of the book plus the processing fee of Php100, or replaced them with the following conditions:
• The same title, author and edition (newer edition is preferred) ;
• A reprint copy is not accepted as replacement for an original edition
Library Orientation
This aims to provide an overview of the library’s staff, resources, services, and physical facilities available in the library.
Library Instruction
This aims to teach library users to become proficient in finding, retrieving, analyzing, and using of information with the right resources.
Storytelling & Book talk
Conducts storytelling to pupils to enrich the love of reading and book talks to encourage readership.
Book borrowing
Facilitates the borrowing and returning of library materials to pupils, faculty, and staff.
Reference and Information Assistance
This service aids users in their information needs. Librarian is available during regular library hours to assist readers in pursuit of information.
Current Awareness
This is an on-going dissemination of information to the principals and faculty about newly acquired books and other library materials to make them aware of certain topics and sources of information relevant to their area of interest.
Online Public Access Catalog
A computerized counterpart of the traditional library card catalog, an online database of materials held by USPF libraries (University, High School, and Elementary Libraries). Users search the OPAC for easy and quick access to the resources available in the library.
