12 Naval Academy midshipmen visit the Naval School

Valparaíso. El pasado lunes 11 de marzo, la Escuela Naval “Arturo Prat”, recibió la visita de 12 Cadetes, un profesor y dos Oficiales de la Escuela Naval de Estados Unidos (US Naval Academy) ubicada en Annapolis, Maryland, con el fin de conocer la institución formadora de los Oficiales de la Armada de Chile y el quehacer de los Cadetes Navales.
Valparaíso. Last Monday, March 11, the Naval School "Arturo Prat", received 12 midshipmen, a professor, and an officer from the United States Naval Academy, located in Annapolis, Maryland, so they could learn more about the Chilean Naval Officers training institution and the work of the Naval Cadets.
La comitiva fue recibida por el Subdirector, Capitán de Fragata Gerardo Zwanzger, quien junto a los Oficiales de dotación de la Escuela Naval y una delegación representativa del Plantel compuesta por 10 Cadetes que acompañaron el recorrido por las instalaciones, salas de clases, simulador de navegación, sala histórica y entrepuentes para luego participar de una exposición enfocada en el proceso formativo, valórico y próximos desafíos que cuenta el Plantel.
The delegation was received by the Deputy Director, Frigate Captain Gerardo Zwanzger, who together with the Staff Officers of the Naval School and a representative delegation of 10 Cadets accompanied them on a tour of the facilities, classrooms, navigation simulator, historical room and participated in discussions focused on the formative process, value and upcoming challenges facing the School.
Para el Jefe del Departamento Ejecutivo de la Escuela Naval, Capitán de Corbeta José Sandino, “esta visita representa una oportunidad de intercambio de experiencias entre Cadetes de distintas Escuelas, lo cual contribuye al acervo profesional y su futuro desempeño como Oficiales de Marina”.
For the Chief of the Executive Department of the Naval School, Corvette Captain José Sandino, "this visit represents an opportunity to exchange experiences among Cadets from different schools, which contributes to the professional heritage and their future performance as Navy Officers".
Desde el año 2007 bajo el marco del Convenio de Cooperación e Intercambio de Cadetes entre las Armadas de ambos países, más de 35 Cadetes de la Armada de Chile han formado parte del Plantel en la ciudad de Annapolis y a su vez 27 Cadetes Estadounidenses han estudiado en la Escuela Naval “Arturo Prat”.
Since 2007 under the Agreement of Cooperation and Exchange of Cadets between the Armed Forces of both countries, more than 35 Cadets of the Chilean Navy have been part of the Campus in the city of Annapolis and in turn 27 US Cadets have studied in the Naval School "Arturo Prat".
"Lads, the battle will be unfair, but, cheer and have courage. Never has our flag been hauled down before the enemy and I hope this will not be the occasion for it to happen. From my part, I assure you that as long as I live, this flag will remain flying in its place, and if I should die, my officers will know how to fulfill their duties. Long Live Chile!"
