The mission of the School of Management's Office of Undergraduate Studies is to facilitate a welcoming and inclusive community that supports each student's educational and personal growth and enhances the overall student experience.
Greetings! We are thrilled for you to be joining and leading USF's School of Management. To familiarize yourself with our office, we have prepared a brief guide to the SOM UG Office's functions, projects, and, of course, us!
After serving as department chair and professor in the hospitality management program for several years, Dr. Michelle Millar joined the Undergraduate Studies team as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in fall 2021. Michelle oversees the undergraduate curriculum for both the BSBA and the BAM (Bachelor of Arts in Management) programs, and works with the UG Studies team, located in Malloy 113, to provide the support, advising, and co-curricular activities that enhance the student experience for undergraduates in the School of Management.
Michelle has a passion for travel that began while she was an exchange student in high school. Her passion led her to a successful career as a travel consultant for many years, prior to joining USF in 2010. Born and raised in the Bay Area, and an avid SF Giants fan, Michelle also enjoys sunsets at the beach, long walks, and a good taco - oh - and to travel, of course.
Simone Jordan has supported our undergraduate students as a member of SOM's UG Studies team for the past 11 years. As Director of Undergraduate Operations and Student Engagement, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the SOM UG Office and many aspects of SOM's undergraduate student engagement including orientation, commencement, co-curricular and other events.
Simone is the department's point of contact for SOM clubs and manages the Dean's Awards and Dean's List. She is also an advisor to 1/3 of SOM's first-year students.
Before working in higher education, Simone held various media positions at NBC and Showtime Networks in New York. She received a BA from Hunter College (CUNY) and holds her MS from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. A transplanted New Yorker, Simone enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and trying the latest food trends in the Bay Area.
Ben Bottorff is the Director of Academic Advising. He has 9 years of experience advising SOM undergraduate students on program requirements, course scheduling, and progress toward graduation.
Additionally, Ben plans students’ appropriate course loads, creates and updates advising materials, and evaluates coursework for transfer credit via course substitutions. He supports faculty, department chairs, and program assistants, and plays a huge role across campus in collaboration with other divisions including the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Athletics, International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), the Center for Academic and Student Achievement (CASA), and the Center for Global Education.
Over the years, Ben has supported and motivated college-level students as an economics instructor, academic adviser, and success coach. He completed his BA in Economics at UC Santa Cruz and his MA in International and Development Economics at USF. Ben leverages his past academic and professional experiences to help USF business students achieve their goals!
Anne Yumang is the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies. She serves as an academic advisor to 1/3 of the SOM first-year students. Anne also manages the Webtrack initiative for the School of Management, oversees the UG communication architecture, and works closely with Simone on planning, implementing, and overseeing all undergraduate academic and co-curricular events.
Anne was the department's coordinator for six years before joining USF's ITS division, returning to SOM in 2021. She is a USF alumna and is currently completing a master's degree in educational technology at USF. A Bay Area native, she enjoys hiking, SF food trends, and raising her future Dons — Adrieana, Giancarlo, and Elijah.
Mika is responsible for managing front desk operations with the help of our student assistants, answering student and faculty questions, connecting them with resources, and providing advising information.
Additionally, Mika supports all activities of the SOM UG Office and manages many of the logistical elements of projects and events. From coordinating Advise-A-Thon to assigning faculty advisors, Mika assists, coordinates, and implements projects and activities for the SOM UG Office.
A double graduate of USF with a BA in Psychology and a minor in the Yuchengco Philippine Studies Program (YPSP) in 2018, Mika calls USF her home. An East Bay native, she uses her role as a program assistant to further her passion for engaging with students, faculty, and staff on campus and beyond.
Deanna has been with USF for 35 years, of which 25 years has been serving School of Management undergraduate students. She provides the 'Dean's Signature' on all transactional academic student forms when exceptions are warranted. These include adding or dropping a class after a deadline, excess credits requests, approving substitutions, change of grade, and change of major forms, to name a few.
Serving as the primary contact for SOM students who wish to study abroad, Deanna carefully reviews their graduation plans to make sure they stay on track to graduate on time.
Deanna also serves on many University wide committees where she can be an advocate for students, always ensuring their best interests are considered.
Born and raised in San Francisco, she never felt the need to wander too far. She and her two sons are proud alums of the School of Management. Deanna loves to travel and enjoys exploring new restaurants.
