IB Subjects

Consider the following before selecting courses:

• choose at least 3 HL subjects

• select subjects from 6 different subject groups

• A Group 6 subject can be replaced with a subject from another group

Differences Between Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) courses:

• HL courses are more challenging and require more time.

• Students in HL classes are required to display a greater depth of understanding during IB assessment, and there are usually more assessments in an HL class.

• Some SL classes are offered in one year, but all HL classes span two years (junior and senior years).

• Students are encouraged to enroll in HL classes that cater to their academic strengths.

• Students must enroll in at least three HL courses.

• All scores of 4 or better in IB courses (HL or SL) will transfer as credit at Kansas Board of Regents universities.
