NCAA and NAIA
If you want to be a college-bound student-athlete, notify your coach and school counselor of your intent to compete at a NCAA or NAIA school.
If you are interested in being a college-bound student-athlete at a Division I or Division II school you must be eligible according to the NCAA Rules.
If you want to play NCAA sports at a Division I or II school, you need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at eligibilitycenter.org. If you plan to compete at a Division III school or currently are not sure what division you want to compete, create a free Profile Page account.

You are eligible for a registration fee waiver if you have received a waiver of the SAT or ACT fee.

Requesting Final Amateurism Certification
Students enrolling for the first time at an NCAA Division I or II school in the fall semester can request their final amateurism certification beginning in April. Please review this resource for additional information.
Division I Academic Eligibility
To be eligible to compete in NCAA sports during your first year at a Division I school, you must meet ALL the following requirements:
Earn 16 NCAA-approved core-course credits:
Four years of English.
Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher).
Two years of science (including one year of lab, if offered).
One additional year of English, math or science.
Two years of social science.
Four additional years of English, math, science, social science, world language or nondoctrinal religion/philosophy.
Complete 10 of your 16 NCAA-approved core-course credits, including seven in English, math or science, before the start of the seventh semester.
Complete your 16 NCAA-approved core-course credits in eight academic semesters or four consecutive academic years from the start of ninth grade.
Earn a minimum 2.3 core-course GPA.
Submit your final transcript with proof of graduation to the Eligibility Center.

What if I don’t meet the requirements?
If you have not met all of the Division I academic standards, you may not compete in your first year at a Division I school. However, if you qualify as an academic redshirt, you may practice during your first term in college and receive an athletics scholarship for the entire year.
Division II Academic Eligibility
To be eligible to compete in NCAA sports during your first year at a Division II school, you must meet ALL the following requirements:
Earn 16 NCAA-approved core-course credits:
Three years of English.
Two years of math (Algebra 1 or higher).
Two years of science (including one year of lab, if offered).
Three additional years of English, math or science.
Two years of social science.
Four additional years of English, math, science, social science, world language or nondoctrinal religion/philosophy.
Earn a minimum 2.2 core-course GPA.
Submit your final transcript with proof of graduation to the Eligibility Center.
If you are interested in being an athlete at an NAIA school you must be eligible according to the NAIA eligibility rules.
If you will graduate from a U.S. high school this spring and enroll in college this coming fall, the requirements are simple. An entering freshman must: Be a graduate of an accredited high school. Must graduate with a 2.3+ GPA or meet two of the three following requirements.

PlayNAIA.org is the official clearinghouse for NAIA eligibility. Every student interested in playing sports at NAIA colleges for the first time needs to register online with the NAIA Eligibility Center and receive an eligible determination.
