Mission Statement

The Mission of the USD 380 Vermillion Schools is to assure that all our students learn in an environment which maximizes achievement and all our students exit with the necessary skills to be productive adults in a changing, democratic, multicultural society.

Vision

To educate all students to the highest levels of academic achievement, to enable them to reach and expand their potential, and to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society.

Background Information

During the 2020-21 school year, the USD 380 Board of Education committed to a strategic planning process in an effort to continue the long-range focus of the district. The Board opted to conduct the process internally rather than through contracted services.

On September 14, 2020, the Board had a planning session to outline objectives and areas of importance. The Board identified five areas of emphasis, which include: Well Rounded Curriculum for all Vermillion Students; Effective Communication and Relationships in the Community; Establish a Long-Term Facilities and Operations Plan; Establish a District Technology Plan; and Establish a Plan to Recruit, Retain, and Train a High Quality Staff.

The Administrative Team met numerous times over a period of months to determine the necessary action steps to meet these overarching goals. On January 11, 2021, the Board reconvened to review and prioritize these action steps and to assess the recommended timeline set forth by the Administrative Team.

This page serves as tool for transparently communicating the goals, plans, and progress of the district with the community and its stakeholders. Annual reports and yearly progress will be posted under each tab of the Strategic Plan site in order to document and track the progress of the district in acheiving these goals through various artifacts that include graphs, charts, and reports. The Superintendent will report to the Board on a monthly basis the progress that has been made in each area of the Strategic Plan ensuring that exceptional trajectory is maintained in achieving these goals.
