Parents, this website has what you need to know for your child to have a successful year in band class! Please see the information listed in the band handbook. I will be sending a physical copy of our handbook and calendar home this week; please sign and return. You'll also receive a handy checklist for making sure your child has what they need for class.
Calendar Coding
Please pay attention to the calendar dates marked "CMS-BAND" and then to the grade (8th or 7th) to understand who it applies to.
Required for Class:
We have some requirements for class that need to be taken care of soon. Each student will need the following items:
-- Fully-functional (working) instrument
(If I notice a problem - I will send home a note detailing any needed repairs)
-- A 1'' 3-Ring Binder with approximately 25 sheet protectors.
-- Essential Elements Book #1 and eventually #2
-- Practicing at home
Concerts:
Our concerts are listed on our band calendar found on the website and also on the district calendar. Detailed information will be sent closer to the time of the concert. Keep in mind that our concerts are a major part of the class, required, and graded.
Special Band Apparel:
We own a set of black performance polos that all the CMS music students will wear for performances. This is stored at school and we will issue the polos right before the concert. Each student is required to provide black pants/skirt and black shoes/socks/belt to go with our polos. This is detailed in our band handbook.
