Why Should I do This?
The primary reason for our parent organization is to support your children. The friendships you will make and the enjoyment of participating in the activities are other benefits you will realize. But first and foremost, this is for your child and your child's classmates.
What Can I Do?
There are many things you can do to be active as a band parent. One of the most important things you can do is to attend the BPC meetings! These meetings are where you should ask questions and voice concerns and ideas about the organization and its activities. This is where the decisions are made, and you should part of that. Additional ways to help out are to volunteer to chaperone, participate in fundraisiers, or help out with concerts. Every little contribution makes a big difference.Â
I Am New, Do You Really Need Me?
Regardless of your occupation or area of experience, there are many service you would be able to provide to our music program. An important thing to do as a new parent is to get involved right away. Do not wait for someone to ask you to help. Many times, a small nucleus of parents does the majority of the work. Parents who are currently in the BPC do not know who is willing to volunteer unless you join us! New parents are like new students, you are no longer "new" at the end of the school year. Do not wait a year or two to get involved. Time goes by much too quickly.
