I read aloud to my students each day. The video I created could be shared with my students to generate excitement before I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis.
Editing Process:
To begin creating project 2, I used the software, Ripit to convert my DVD version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to a digital file. Next, I pulled the movie file into my assets bin in Premiere Pro CC and used a 28 second clip to build my project upon.
I exported two specific frames from the movie to use as still photos in my video. The still frame of the wardrobe is at the beginning and the very end of my video. I used the still frame of the wardrobe to act as an introduction background, layering my watermark on top. I also used the same still at the end for consistency and layered text on top to cite the use of the movie clip, finishing with my watermark transitioning in for the last few frames.
I also used the last frame of the video clip of Lucy and exported it into my assets bin as an image. I then placed the image at the end of the video clip, making the video appear to freeze, while the music and text overlays continue.
The original clip I chose was a little long, so I did edit out a few seconds of Lucy walking through the wardrobe. I used the exponential fade tool to fade the music in and out at the beginning and end of my video. I also used a few graphics tools to lay text and create a gray rectangle, which were layered over parts of the video. To transition between my different clips and still frames, I used the “cross dissolve” feature. I used the same tool to fade my text in and out.
I exported my video as a QuickTime movie and uploaded it to my Google Drive. I then embedded the video into my website. The movie has interactive viewer controls, so students are able to play, pause, replay, adjust volume and scrub forward and backward through the video.
