AED is a portable electronic device that analyzes the heart's rhythm and if necessary can deliver a shock to increase the survival in someone experiencing cardiac arrest.
Jefferson West High School has an AED located in the commons on the wall between the two sets of entry doors to the gym.
Jefferson West Middle School has an AED located in the commons directly across from the gym doors, on the wall outside the concession stand.
Jefferson West Elementary School has an AED located in the gym on the north wall, near the front office.
Jefferson West has an AED in the Weights Building on the wall when entering the north door. The Bus Barn has an AED hanging on the wall when entering through the man door from the stadium. The Stadium also has an AED located in the Athletic building located directly inside the building when entering the building from the track.
Members of the cardiac emergency response team are notified immediately when a cardiac emergency is suspected. 911 is called and CPR is initiated. The nearest AED is used. The team is composed of staff trained in CPR and in the use of an AED. Two successful drills are completed each school year.
