I graduated in Pharmacy and then in Biotechnology from the University of Salamanca (USAL) in 2007 and 2009, respectively. In 2010, I obtained a contract funded by The Ramon Areces Foundation and joined the Neurochemistry group led by Prof. Arantxa Tabernero and Prof. Jose Maria Medina, located at the Institute for Neuroscience of Castilla y Leon (INCYL).
My PhD (supervised by Dr. Ana Velasco and Prof. Jose Maria Medina) dealt with some neuropathological aspects in Down syndrome. Briefly, I studied the effects of the neurotrophic factor oleic acid using cell lines from trisomy 16 mice and primary neuron cultures from transgenic mice overexpressing Dyrk1A. I defended my PhD in Neuroscience in 2014. In 2015 I moved to London where I got a postdoctoral position from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in a project funded by the BBSRC to work in Prof. Pedro R. Cutillas laboratory as a Postdoctoral Researcher, located in Barts Cancer Institute in QMUL.
My postdoc main project focused on the creation of a systematic classification of phosphorylation sites to study the complexity and topology of kinase signaling networks in different cancer models using phosphoproteomics.
In 2021 I got a competitive contract “Programa II Contratos Posdoctorales USAL-2020” and three highly recognized program grants to become a principal investigator in Spain: “Miguel Servet”, “Atracción de Talento de la Comunidad de Madrid”, and “Ramón y Cajal”. Finally, I established my own research group at USAL as Ramón y Cajal Researcher and obtained a grant from the program "Generación de Conocimiento 2021" funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
