How to Find a Safe Zone
Gender Inclusive Housing Form (GIH)
After opening Ecampus to your home page, click on the section titled "Profile"
It will open up to your "Personal Details" tab and there will be a section labeled "Names" with a big plus sign below it.
Press that plus sign and add your name. The box labeled "Type" drops down and offers the option "Preferred". Choose this and this will change your name within the University.
Now switch tabs to the "Biographic" section. Here you can input different information regarding your identity. Including gender identity, pronouns, and sexual orientation.
This is a URI Safe Zone symbol. The presence of this symbol on campus indicates that the person it represents is Safe Zone certified. Think of this as a symbol of allyship and confidentiality. You will find these mostly outside of offices and RA doors.
Here is a list of Safe Zone certified individuals on campus! https://web.uri.edu/gender-sexuality/safe-zone/safe-zone-member-list/
(Note that not all that are certified wished to be listed)
The Gender Inclusive Housing form can be found in your "My Housing" portal. It can only be completed once your housing form has been submitted first.
Once your housing form is submitted you can click the three lines at the top of the page to open a sidebar, similar to the one on this site. There will be a category labed "Applications/Forms". Click it and the GIH form should be there for you.
