Wellness

Students who are active and well-nourished are better learners! Urbandale CSD partners with staff, parents, students, and community to prepare students to make healthy choices for themselves.

Urbandale Schools is currently updating the district-owned Wellness Policy and Assessment Tool. This tool complies with federal law, is comprehensive and includes standards for nutrition education and promotion, physical activity, food marketing and nutrition guidelines for all foods sold and offered to students.

Education in the Classroom

Teachers can request Nutrition Education lessons by filling out this form. Available lessons include:

Go, Grow, Glow ✨
Students learn about the different foods that help their bodies have energy (go), grow strong (grow) and stay healthy (glow). They draw themselves in action with connections to the foods that enable them to enjoy their favorite activities.

Eat the Rainbow 🌈
Students learn about the health benefits of eating a variety of fruits and vegetables by discussing how they contain vitamins and minerals. This lesson is designed to make exploring the rainbow of fruits and vegetables fun and engaging.
