Connecting to CMSlpc

The LPC CAF (cmslpc cluster) is a group of interactive nodes running Scientific Linux Fermi (or SL) 7 that LPC users are able to connect to, to develop and debug their code, submit jobs, do analysis, and so on. Users connect to cmslpc-sl7.fnal.gov (OS: SL7). Singularity can be used to run a sl6 environment on sl7 interactive nodes if needed.  It is assumed that you already have a Fermilab Kerberos principal account (you got the email "Welcome to the CMS LPC CAF (Central Analysis Facility)"). If not visit the "Get an Account" section.

Access to the LPC CAF is controlled by a load balancer cmslpc-sl7.fnal.gov, which redirects incoming connections to an individual SL7 virtual machine node (VM) numbered sequentially from cmslpc101.fnal.gov to cmslpc178.fnal.gov. In most cases, users do not need to select a particular VM node, and should let the load balancer handle it. The need for multiple parallel analysis should be handled by the batch system

Guidelines for use of the interactive nodes.
