Smoking and Vaping on Campus is a Major Offense
In strict compliance with national laws—R.A. 9211, R.A. 8749, Sec. 24, and E.O. No. 26—smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited within the university premises, including all grounds and properties. This prohibition also extends to official school-sanctioned activities outside the campus.
Prohibited Actions Include:
✅ Smoking or vaping anywhere on campus
✅ Possession, display, or use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape devices, or any nicotine delivery paraphernalia (e.g., vape pens, pipes, and similar items)
✅ Encouraging or facilitating smoking or vaping within university grounds
We uphold these rules to foster a clean, healthy, and responsible academic environment. Let's work together to keep our campus smoke-free and vape-free!

CHED Retains Autonomous Status for University of Perpetual Help System Laguna & UPH-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has granted the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) and UPH-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University (UPH-DJGTMU) the prestigious Autonomous Status. This recognition is valid for a period of three years, from September 16, 2024, to September 15, 2027.
The Autonomous Status is one of the highest distinctions conferred by CHED, signifying that UPHSL and UPH-DJGTMU have consistently demonstrated excellence in academic programs, research, student services, and governance. Universities granted this status are given a degree of independence in curricular offerings, faculty management, and other academic policies, allowing them to innovate and respond effectively to the evolving needs of higher education.
This award reflects UPHSL and UPH-DJGTMU's commitment to providing top-tier education and healthcare training, enabling students to excel in their chosen fields. The institutions continue to embody the values of quality education and holistic development, aiming to produce graduates equipped to make a significant impact locally and globally.

In collaboration with other prestigious Universities in Asia, the University of Perpetual Help - Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University co-hosted the 11th Huachiew Chalermprakiet University Academic Conference in Thailand on July 25 to 26, 2024. The theme of the conference, "Research to Serve Society," featured keynote speakers who explored various topics, including "Precision Medicine and Epigenomics: Advancing into the Future by Unlocking the Secrets of the Genome and Biological Clock," presented by Dr. Wasun Chantratita from Mahidol University. Another notable presentation was "Integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine with the Big Health Industry and Wellness," delivered by Wang Yaogang from Tianjin University.
The Executive Director for Academics, Dr. Roldan Concepcion, led the delegation from UPH-DJGTMU Colleges. Accompanying Dr. Concepcion were Dr. Rufo Calixtro, Research Director; Dr. Maria Nilda Muñoz, Research Consultant; Dean Estrella San Juan and Assistant Dean Evelyn Del Rosario from the College of Nursing; Dean Analiza Malalay and Assistant Dean Eduardo Soriano Jr. from the College of Pharmacy; Dean Jamilah C. Baragona from the College of Medical Technology; Dean Marifel Sison and Assistant Dean Evelyn Rosete from the College of Radiologic Technology; Dean Juana I. Dela Cruz from the College of Midwifery; as well as other professors from UPH-DJGTMU Colleges.
After the delegates arrived, HCU warmly welcomed everyone to a captivating cultural night that showcased the richness of Asian culture and its diverse traditions. The evening featured vibrant performances, colorful displays, and authentic cuisine, all aimed at immersing attendees in the unique heritage and artistic expressions of various Asian communities. The cultural night allowed delegates from multiple Universities to connect and broaden their international networks for potential collaborations.
Dr. Virma de Lima Espejo received a certificate of appreciation for her research presentation. She also discussed the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) at UPH-DJGTMU. Dr. Espejo highlighted the important role of Community Outreach Programs conducted by all UPH-DJGTMU Colleges in carrying out the SDGs, emphasizing SDG 3: Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-Being for All at All Ages. This initiative aligns with UPH-DJGTMU's mission as one of the leading providers of graduates in Medical Allied fields.
The main objectives of this recurring Academic Conference are to create a platform for sharing research findings from scholars, experts, educators, and students from private and public higher education institutions, locally and internationally. The conference also aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas, methodologies, and experiences related to research. Finally, it seeks to build a network of researchers from diverse local and international backgrounds. As internationalization becomes a vital aspect of academic institutions globally, international conferences offer a platform for Universities to create further linkages and collaborations.
On behalf of all the delegates from UPH-DJGTMU, Dr. Evelyn Del Rosario received MU’s certificate of recognition as a co-host of the Academic Conference. As a co-host, UPH-DJGTMU delegates had the opportunity to discuss with other delegates the potential of cultural collaborations and other important matters aimed at strengthening academic partnerships primarily on the aspect of faculty and student mobility not just with HCU but with other academic institutions.
Following the academic conference, the delegates from the UPH-DJGTMU participated in a tour of the HCU campus as part of benchmarking activities. In alignment with the UPH-DJGTMU Institutional Policy on Internationalization, this collaboration aims to support the continuous development of professionals with the necessary technical and professional competencies for local and international markets. By doing so, the University seeks to fulfill its objective of producing globally competitive graduates.
