YEAR 2023
The University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna, College of Midwifery has its own Birthing Facility. Its purpose is for the midwifery students to handle and manage it and cater to indigent pregnant mothers. This is in partnership with the JONELTA Foundation and Clinical Division.
For the College to help and impart their knowledge and service to the community, the College has conducted an annual Buntis Party since 2016. During this, the College coordinates with the Biñan Rural Health Unit (RHU) to locate indigent pregnant mothers and collaborate with the JONELTA Clinical Division to help administer free pre-natal consultations and free birth delivery in the Birthing Center with subsidies and affordable packages. JONELTA can cater the mother, infant, and the entire family. This program is a sustainable project to help pregnant mothers in communities.
Likewise, the College of Nursing, particularly the second year nursing students, also collaborated with the JONELTA Clinical Division last February 2023 in the implementation of the Buntis party (Pregnant Party) for first-time mothers. This is in line with the concept on maternal and child nursing, as the nursing students with the assistance of their Clinical Instructor gave a lecture on proper nutrition, untoward signs and symptoms during pregnancy, importance of pre-natal check-up, and a discussion on childcare.

Tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys our environment, further harming human health, through the cultivation, production, distribution, consumption, and post-consumer waste.
World No Tobacco Day 2023’s theme is “We need food, not tobacco.” The event aims to inform tobacco farmers about alternative crop production and marketing options and encourage them to grow healthy, long-lasting crops. It will also try to show how the tobacco industry is trying to stop efforts to grow sustainable crops instead of tobacco, which is contributing to the global food crisis.
